New photo!

Here's the latest picture of the baby, who is going on 26 weeks. He is just shy of 2 pounds! Everything seems to be going well with him-- he was head down, all curled up with his arms along his face. Note: the baby is not wearing a bad toupee! That is just interference from the ultrasound... We don't know when we'll get to see him next, but he's looking very healthy!

On Children

Both Bruno and I are fond of Kahlil Gibran's writings from The Prophet. So here I wanted to include his passage "On Children":

Baby Face

Looking at ultrasounds, even 3D ones, can be a bit like an inkblot test. The upper photo is a closeup of the baby's face, which he hid for most of the ultrasound, lodged near my right hip (his favorite hiding spot!). He looks a lot like Bruno (as a baby) here, we think. The best photo to see this in is Bruno's naked baby pic, which I don't think he'd appreciate me publishing in its entirety. So the second photo is his naked baby photo, slightly edited... : )

Big Boy...

So, at the doctor's the other day, when Nícolas (according to the poll, heh) was around 22 weeks 3 days, they estimated his weight to be 1 1/2 pounds. According to "statistics", my favorite thing these days, this makes him a very large baby indeed. Most babies will not weigh this much til the end of the 6th month, not the beginning! Perhaps this accounts for my frenzied hunger the past few weeks (it has subsided somewhat) and jump in weight-- all in my belly, incidentally. I hope he keeps growing this well!
