Dr. X and Son

Nicholas enjoyed attending his daddy's B-exam seminar, which culminated in Bruno's receiving his PhD! He liked the pictures of cows... but ultimately decided to sleep peacefully through the complex talk about bacteriocins and mutant bacteria...

It certainly has been a crazy couple of months! We thank everyone who has been of great help to us through the pregnancy, my A-exam, the wedding, Nicholas' birth, and Bruno's PhD exam: Mom and Dad, Ashley and Erik, and Leo and Alessandra, among others! We are looking forward to working on some projects around the house, as Bruno also begins his new job, and I try to get back to work on my dissertation.

Four weeks!

Nicky at play

First, the best news: vóvó Silvia got her visa last week! We are just waiting to hear when she wants to make the trip up to New York!

And of course, we can't forget that today Nicholas is celebrating four weeks as an "independent" baby! He now weighs 11 pounds (5 kg), and is getting quite chubby drinking his beloved milk. Apart from enjoying a good 3 am play session, and waking up-- uncannily--any time it's time for Mom to eat a meal, he continues to be a very easygoing baby: as long as he gets his food right away!

Bruno and I are slowly crawling out of our month-long seclusion (mostly spent in the bedroom)-- Bruno, who prepared me a wonderful breakfast in bed this morning, including the first coffee I have drunk since the baby was born (wow! caffeine is great!), has returned to his outdoors projects in full force today. He built a shelf from scrap wood, planted strawberry plants, and is digging out large rocks from the creek in support of his "patio project". And, of importance, his PhD defense is this coming Tuesday. Exciting! Today, I have mostly tended to Nicky, who was very reluctant to take a nap. We took a nice walk with Inca around the property, fed/ate a lot, changed many diapers and outfits, cuddled, and played in the gym he received from Alice. Now, he is finally napping...

Nicky Blue Eyes

Most photos don't show Nicky's eye color, which is still a pretty shade of blue. It remains to be seen what color his eyes will be in the long run, but he wants to show off this "gatinho" look to his longtime fans-- not without a sense of humor, however...

Almost 3 weeks old!

Nicholas is doing very well, eating heartily, and getting much stronger. He now weighs 10 pounds! He enjoys staring at windows and lights, and going for walks in his sling--oh yes, and eating. A lot, often! He's still a good sleeper, and enjoys being rocked to sleep in the hammock. Now he is just waiting to hear if his Grandma Silvia will be coming to visit soon!

Some photos of Nicholas!
