Today we got to listen to Azeitona's heartbeat again-- very strong, very fast. And right now she or he is giving gentle little kicks right in the area where we heard the heartbeat. We were so happy to know the baby is okay. One of the strangest things about pregnancy for me, so far, is the mystery, the longing to know, the amazing closeness that nonetheless seems impossibly abstract in the early stages. These little signs-- lub dub lub dub, tap tap--mean so much and give me so much reassurance. Bruno remarked to Dr. Torrado that it must sound like a samba band to Azeitona with my heart and his/her heart pounding all the time...
Our ultrasound is scheduled for February 8th! Until then!
